Bhatkal: In a tragic incident, a pedestrian identified as Mohammed Ashraf, son of Abdul Rashid Khan (aged 60), succumbed to his injuries while being shifted to a hospital in Mangalore for treatment. The accident occurred around 8 pm on Sunday.

Ashraf was returning to his home in Ranginkatte after crossing the National Highway when he was struck by an auto-rickshaw.

Local residents promptly rushed the critically injured Ashraf to Bhatkal Government Hospital for initial treatment. Regrettably, his condition worsened, leading to the decision to transfer him to a hospital in Mangalore. Tragically, Ashraf succumbed to his injuries after the ambulance had reached Kundapur while en route to Mangalore.

The deceased's body has since been transported back to Bhatkal and is currently in the mortuary at the government hospital. Following the necessary procedures, the body will be handed over to the family members.
