Bhatkal court slaps ₹25,000 fine on owner for letting minor ride two-wheeler

Bhatkal: In a case highlighting violations of traffic safety norms, a court in Bhatkal has imposed a fine of ₹25,000 on a vehicle owner for allowing a minor to ride a two-wheeler.

According to police, Rajesh Nagappa Naik, a resident of Basti Kaikini, permitted an underage boy to ride a two-wheeler bearing registration number KA-47/R-8460, in clear violation of the Motor Vehicles Act.

Following the incident, Murdeshwar Police Station PSI Hanumant Biradar registered a case against the owner under Section 5 read with Section 199(a) of the Motor Vehicles Act, and a chargesheet was later filed before the court.

After hearing the case, the court found the owner guilty of allowing a minor to drive and imposed a fine of ₹25,000.

Authorities reiterated the need to strictly follow traffic rules and warned that permitting underage driving poses serious risks to public safety.
