Bhatkal: The triennial elections of Majlis-e-Islah wa Tanzeem, a century-old socio-community body in Uttara Kannada, will be held on May 12. The nomination process, which began on April 30, is set to conclude on Sunday.

According to Tanzeem-appointed Election Commissioner Mohiddin Altaf Khuroori, as many as 50 nomination forms had been collected by prospective candidates as of Saturday evening. As per the schedule, nominations can be filed until May 3 (6:30 PM), with scrutiny scheduled for May 4 and withdrawal permitted until May 5. The final list of candidates will be published on May 6.

Polling will be held on May 12 from 9 AM to 5 PM, followed by counting on the same day. The results will be officially announced on May 14, Khuroori added.

A total of 132 executive members will be elected through the process, representing Bhatkal, various parts of India, and overseas.
