Bhatkal: Uttara Kannada District In-charge Minister Mankal S. Vaidya participated in the self-enumeration process of Census 2027, urging citizens to promptly submit their household details through the digital platform.
The minister completed his self-enumeration at his residence in Murdeshwar, in Bhatkal taluk, as part of the nationwide exercise that commenced on April 1. He appealed to the public to actively take part in the process and ensure timely submission of information.
Census 2027 is being conducted in two phases under the Census Act, 1948, with the first phase focusing on House Listing and Housing Census operations. This phase involves collection of data related to housing conditions, amenities, and household assets through a structured questionnaire.
Officials noted that this is the first time the census process is being carried out through a digital system, replacing the traditional paper-based method. The self-enumeration facility enables citizens to directly input their data, making the process more efficient and accessible.
Bhatkal Tahsildar Nagendra Kolashetti, who visited the minister’s residence along with his staff on Friday, oversaw the enumeration process. He stated that citizens have been given time until April 15, 2026, to complete their self-enumeration.
Authorities said the digital initiative is expected to enhance accuracy in data collection and support effective policy planning for the country’s development.
