Bhatkal: The festival of sacrifice, Eid-ul-Azha, was celebrated with religious devotion and enthusiasm on Thursday in Bhatkal as well as across India. Due to heavy rains in Coastal Karnataka, including Bhatkal, for the past few days, the Eid prayers were performed in Jamia Masjids in most areas instead of the Eidgah ground. Thousands of Muslims participated and benefited from the message of Eid-ul-Azha after the prayers.
During a passionate speech at the ancient Jamia Masjid of Bhatkal, Maulana Abdul Aleem Khatib Nadvi emphasized that sacrifice is not a new practice and can be found in some form or another in every religion. He mentioned that sacrifice is present in other religions, carried out in the name of appeasing gods, removing troubles, avoiding calamities, and more. Maulana also highlighted that while some religions involve the sacrifice of human beings, Islam has provided proper guidance and refined the process of sacrifice.
The Maulana expressed surprise and regret that nowadays, people view every act of Islam with suspicion. He lamented the distortion and misrepresentation of sacred acts like sacrifice. In his address, Maulana strongly condemned the cruelty inflicted on human beings through mob lynching or any other form of oppression. He warned the oppressors that they should fear God's wrath and cruelty for causing harm and suffering to others. He emphasized the importance of avoiding abuse towards others.

Maulana stressed that when the heartfelt prayer of an oppressed person reaches God, nothing can prevent it from being accepted. He quoted the cautionary words of Prophet Muhammad (PBU): "Beware of the supplication of the oppressed. There is no barrier between them and God."
