Fire at Gangolli port causes Rs 13 crore loss: Minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar

Udupi: District In-charge Minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar visited the site of the fire disaster at Gangolli port in Udupi on Friday.

After inspecting the spot of the fire accident, the Minister spoke with officials of the Fisheries Department and local fishermen.

The financial loss caused by the fire disaster is estimated to be between Rs 13 and 15 crores. The Minister promised that efforts would be made to provide relief within 15 days.

A solution will be developed after discussing the matter with the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, and Minister of Fisheries and Ports. Steps will be taken to establish a fire brigade at the port to prevent such mishaps from happening again.

Former MLA Gopal Poojary, Congress leader Dinesh Hegde, Prasadraj Kanchan, Deepak Kotian, Ramesh Kanchan, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Vidya Kumari, SP Dr. Arun, and others were present.
