Bhatkal: A flight bound for Goa from Muscat made an emergency landing at Mumbai airport on Sunday around 6:30 am after a 31-year-old Bhatkali woman passenger fell ill mid-air.
According to another passenger from Bhatkal on board, upon witnessing her condition, the pilot decided to make an emergency landing at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport.
The woman was accompanied by a five-year-old child. When she fell ill during the journey, both the airline staff and fellow passengers became concerned. Consequently, the flight was diverted to Mumbai airport and made an emergency landing.
It was discovered that approximately 15 other Bhatkal passengers, including women and children, were also on board. As a result, the family members of the Bhatkali woman were promptly identified, and once the flight landed in Mumbai, her relatives in Bhatkal were notified.
A Bhatkali youth also landed in Mumbai to support the woman and assisted in transferring her to a nearby hospital. Additionally, a well-known doctor from Murdeswar in Bhatkal taluk was present on the flight and provided initial medical aid to the woman.
Upon receiving the information, Qamaruz Zaman Motia, the General Secretary of Bhatkal Muslim Jamaat Mumbai, contacted the young man who arrived in Mumbai with the woman and offered support on behalf of the Jamaat. It is reported that the woman fainted on the flight due to low blood sugar, but she had recovered by the time she reached a Mumbai hospital and is now said to be in good health.
A passenger on the flight mentioned that the flight from Muscat departed at 2:40 am. Originally scheduled to land at Goa airport at 7:10 am, the flight arrived at Goa airport at 10 am due to the emergency landing in Mumbai. The passenger also stated that both Bhatkali passengers and other individuals on the flight were concerned after witnessing the woman's deteriorating condition and came forward to offer support.
