Udupi: K. Vidyakumari, a 2014 batch IAS officer, officially took charge as the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Udupi, succeeding the outgoing Deputy Commissioner Kurma Rao. The handover ceremony took place at the DC office on Friday, marking the commencement of Vidyakumari's tenure.
Vidyakumari's promotion to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) from the Karnataka Administrative Service (KAS) paved the way for her appointment as Udupi's DC. Her prior experience includes serving as the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Udupi during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Additionally, she has held the position of Chief Executive Officer at Tumakuru Zilla Panchayat.
Meanwhile, Kurma Rao has been transferred without a new posting being assigned at present.
