Bhatkal: Two separate road accidents reported from Bhatkal and Sirsi in Uttara Kannada district claimed the life of an eight-year-old boy and left four others seriously injured. The injured have been admitted to different hospitals, with some stated to be in critical condition.
In the first incident, which occurred in Sirsi taluk, a collision between a car and a motorcycle resulted in the death of a child riding the two-wheeler, while his father and brother sustained grievous injuries. According to sources, Suresh Subraya Bhat was travelling from Manoli towards Kalki on a motorcycle along with his three children when a Mahindra Thar coming from the opposite direction rammed into their vehicle. The impact threw all the riders onto the road.
The injured child, identified as eight-year-old Chirag Bhat, succumbed to his injuries before reaching the hospital. Suresh Bhat and another son were seriously injured and shifted to hospital for treatment. A case has been registered at the Sirsi Rural Police Station, and further investigation is underway.
In a separate incident in Bhatkal, two motorcyclists were seriously injured after their bikes collided near Shamsuddin Circle. The injured have been identified as Manoj Sebia (50), a resident of Ernakulam in Kerala, and Abdul Jaleel (40), a resident of Surathkal in Mangaluru.
Both the injured were given first aid at the government hospital in Bhatkal and later shifted to Manipal and Kundapur respectively for advanced treatment. Reports said Manoj Sebia was travelling from Goa to Ernakulam on his motorcycle when the accident occurred. A case has been registered at the Bhatkal Town Police Station.
