Haveri: Three persons, including two brothers, drowned in separate incidents reported from Karnataka’s Haveri district on Tuesday.
In one incident, two brothers aged 10 and 12 drowned while swimming in the Dharma canal at Kanchinegalur village in Hangal taluk. The deceased were identified as Saijan Byatanal and Sachin Byatanal.
According to sources, the brothers had come from Inam Neralagi village to visit relatives in Kanchinegalur during the school holidays. They reportedly entered the canal for a swim and were swept away.
On receiving information, Adur police visited the spot and conducted an inspection. A case has been registered at the Adur Police Station.
In another incident, a 21-year-old man identified as Paijan, a native of Uttar Pradesh, drowned while swimming in a lake between Shringeri and Mantagi villages in Hangal taluk.
Police said the youth had come to Sammasgi village to work at his relative’s saloon shop. He allegedly entered the lake for swimming and drowned.
Hangal police visited the scene and initiated further investigation.
