Bhatkal: Bhatkal Rural Police have arrested three persons for allegedly transporting camels illegally.
The accused have been identified as Karan Babar (26), a native of Madhya Pradesh, and Suhas Suryavanshi (22) and Yash Gotakinde (19), both residents of Shirod in Kolhapur district of neighbouring Maharashtra.
According to police, the trio was transporting eight camels, collectively valued at around ₹3.75 lakh, in a goods vehicle from Maharashtra towards Mangaluru. The animals were allegedly tied in a cruel manner and were being transported without being provided food or water.
