Weekend Defenders clinch victory over Bhatkal Nawayath Club in cricket tournament held in Muscat

Weekend Defenders clinch victory over Bhatkal Nawayath Club in cricket tournament held in Muscat

Muscat: In an exciting night-long cricket tournament organized by Weekend Friends under the patronage of Bhatkal Muslim Jamaat Muscat, Weekend Defenders emerged victorious, defeating Bhatkal Nawayath Club in a thrilling final match to lift the trophy.

The six-over tournament featured 12 teams, with enthusiastic participation from Bhatkali youth residing across Muscat and Oman. The tournament also drew a large crowd of Bhatkalis who thoroughly enjoyed the spirited and entertaining matches.

In the first semi-final, Bhatkal Nawayath Club defeated Royal Nawayaths, while Weekend Defenders secured their place in the final by overcoming Nawayath Club in the second semi-final. The final clash between Bhatkal Nawayath Club and Weekend Defenders proved to be a closely contested match, with the Defenders ultimately taking the win.

The grand event, which began at 9 PM, concluded successfully at around 4:45 AM the next morning.

The winning team, Weekend Defenders, was awarded a handsome trophy along with a cash prize of 201 Omani Riyals. The runner-up, Bhatkal Nawayath Club, received a trophy and 151 Omani Riyals.

Mujtaba Chamundi was named Man of the Match for his standout performance in the final, while Abdul Baqi was honored as the Best Player of the Tournament. Ubada Barmaver was recognized as the Best Fielder of the tournament.

 To further engage attendees, a lucky draw was conducted following the final match, with prizes distributed among the audience. A delicious dinner was also arranged for all participants and attendees before the matches began.

Several dignitaries from the Bhatkal Muslim Jamaat Muscat graced the event, including President Nisar MJ, Vice President Suhail Ekkeri, General Secretary Abul Ala Mohtisham, Secretary Syed Ziyad SM, and executive members Ibrahim Khalil Gawai, Ayub Siddibappa, Dr. Umran, Fauzan Mohtisham, Abdul Hafeez Siddiqa, Abdul Bari SM, Abdul Bari Ruknuddin, Syed Hassan SM, Nasir Qaziya, and Tariq Ruknuddin Baida, among others.
