Mangaluru: Karnataka Beary Sahithya Academy Chairman Rahim Uchil said that state government had released Rs 3 crore for building Beary Samskruthika Bhavan.
He was speaking during Beary Day programme, organised by the Academy, at University College. The government has sanctioned Rs 6 crore to construct the Bhavan on the site that was allotted to it and is also working towards the promotion of Beary language, Uchil said.
The Mangalore University will introduce certificate courses on Beary dances like duff, ‘Kolkali’ and ‘Oppane’ as per the new National Education Policy from the next academic year. Efforts are also being taken up to introduce Beary as optional subject in schools and colleges, he added.
A total of 10 Beary achievers were felicitated on the occasion. Prizes were distributed to the winners in competitions organised by the Academy, Uchil said.
