Hanagal: Hinting at an impending split in Karnataka Congress, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai Sunday said 'Achche Din' will not dawn upon Congress leader Siddaramaiah unitil KPCC President DK Shivakumar remains in the party.

"Siddaramaiah addresses Narendra Modi with disrespect and flays his 'Achche Din' slogan. But, I would like to tell Siddaramaiah that 'Achche Din' will not dawn upon him until DK Shivakumar is in the party. Do you think DK Shivakumar will sit quiet?," he said at a rally ahead of bypoll to Hanagal assembly constituency.

There is no need for anyone to finish off the Congress, but they themselves will do so, because of the internecine fighting, Bommai said.

The whispers of Congress infighting has come to the fore yet again after Siddaramaiah returned from Delhi following a meeting with AICC President Sonia Gandhi.

During the meeting, Sonia Gandhi had offered Siddaramaiah to play a national role, but he refused as he desires to strengthen his position in the state, which antagonises Shivakumar's ambitions."Therefore, it is not necessary for anyone to finish off the Congress, but the Congressmen themselves will finish off the party," he said.

Bommai is on a bypoll campaign trail in Hanagal which will go for voting on October 30.Yesterday, BJP state vice president BY Vijayendra had also said the splitting of Congress into three due to internal bickerings.

The Congress, he said, is dreaming of returning to power in Karnataka, even though the party has lost its relevance in the majority of the states.RDPR Minister KS Eshwarappa also had commented on Congress split before the next Assembly elections.He also had asked Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar to get themselves admitted to a mental asylum to dream about wooing BJP legislators into its fold, because none of them want to join a sinking party.
