Karwar: One person died and three others sustained injuries after a portion of a hill, near Kudle coast in Gokarna, under Uttara Kannada district, caved on Saturday.

The deceased Prakash Venkanna Gowda (35), was resident of Adigonna village. The injured Baira Gowda (48), who sustained serious injuries, Raghuram Gowda (30) and Santosh Gowda (30), have been admitted to private hospital in Honnavar. Baira’s condition is critical, others are out of danger.

The incident took place while they were constructing a protection wall against the hill using earthmoving machine, when a portion (300 ft above ground level), caved in. Prakash was buried under the rubble and died on the spot, while others were rescued. A case has been registered.
