Bengaluru: Ten people were killed in three separate tragic incidents reported in different parts of Karnataka following the Ganesh Chaturthi festival. The incidents include the deaths of three people after a milk tanker collided with a scooter in Mandya, three youths in a collision between a KSRTC bus and a motorcycle in Belagavi district, and four members of a family in a house fire in Belagavi city.
Three killed in Mandya: Three people were killed on the spot when a milk tanker collided with a scooter near Koppa village in Maddur taluk of Mandya district on Tuesday morning.
According to sources, the three had come to their native village to celebrate the Ganesh festival and were returning to Bengaluru on the scooter after the festivities when the accident occurred.
The deceased have been identified as Kavya, Matturaj and Keerthana. They are reportedly residents of Koppa village. Police reached the spot following the accident, completed the necessary formalities and registered a case.
Three youths killed in Belagavi: Three youths were killed on the spot in a collision between a government bus and a motorcycle in the outskirts of Saudatti in Belagavi district.
According to sources, the accident occurred on the Belagavi-Saudatti road.
The deceased have been identified as Vinod Hogennur (22), Akash Jadhav (20) and Ravi Kurubar (22), all residents of Saudatti. They were returning on a motorcycle after watching a Ganesh procession when their motorcycle collided with a KSRTC bus travelling from Saudatti towards Dharwad. All three youths died on the spot.
Four killed in house fire in Belagavi: In another tragic incident, four members of a family were killed and two others seriously injured after a fire broke out in a house in Chowhan Galli in Belagavi city.
According to sources, the family had gone to sleep after dinner when the fire broke out. A malfunction or possible explosion in the refrigerator is suspected to have caused the fire.
The deceased have been identified as Gajanan Rajaram Damone (65), Roshan Gajanan Damone (21), Sharda Damone (45) and Bharati Rajaram Damone (50). Priya Gajanan Damone (28) and Ganga Gajanan Damone (25) were injured in the incident and shifted to a hospital for treatment.
