12.07 lakh voters in Uttara Kannada district: DC Gangubai Manakar

Karwar: Deputy Commissioner Gangubai Manakar announced that the district currently has 12,07,433 voters, comprising 6,04,466 males, 6,02,961 females, and 6 others, as per the final voter list. Speaking at the DC office hall, he distributed the final voter list to political party leaders on Monday.

The final voter list, as of January 1, 2024, was published on January 22, 2024, at the offices of all Registrars of Voters (Assistant Commissioners), Office of Registrars of Voters (Tahsildar), and respective polling booths. The list has been made transparently available, and any objections should be raised by the end of February. 

Manakar informed that in the draft voter list published on October 27, 2023, there were 11,98,532 voters, indicating an increase of 8,901 voters.

For the 6 assembly constituencies in the district, which include a total of 1,435 polling booths, the distribution of voters is as follows:

76-Haliyal assembly constituency: 1,83,036 voters (91,869 males, 91,166 females, and 1 other voter in 215 polling booths).
 
77-Karwar assembly constituency: 1,09,378 voters (94,624 males in 258 polling booths).
 
78-Kumta assembly constituency: 1,89,856 voters (94,624 males, 95,229 females, and 3 other voters in 215 polling booths).
 
79-Bhatkal assembly constituency: 1,14,053 voters (1,14,053 males in 248 polling booths).
 
80-Sirsi assembly constituency: 2,02,648 voters (1,01,484 males, 1,01,163 females, and 1 other voter in 266 polling stations).
 
81-Yellapur assembly constituency: 1,84,600 voters (93,058 males and 91,542 females in 233 polling booths).

The district has a total of 29,229 senior citizen voters, 24,399 youth voters, and 15,579 differently-abled voters for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Electoral list observers appointed by the Election Commission have visited the district, checked additions and deletions in the electoral list, and submitted a report. Voters are advised to contact polling booth level officials or the Tahsildar office to verify their details, which can also be checked at https://ceo.karnataka.gov.in and https://uttarakannada.nic.in

Manakar mentioned that the district has been allocated 1,945 control units, 2,756 ballot units, and 2,035 VVPATs for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, with the first phase of verification already completed. 

Sub-District Officer Prakash Rajput, Sub-Divisional Officer Kanishka, Samir Naik of the Congress Party, Manoj Bhatt of the BJP Party, and others were present at the occasion.
