Ankola: At least two people were killed on the spot and four others were injured seriously in a ghastly road accident that happened in between two cars on Ramanaguli NH-63 of Ankola taluk on 24th January, Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Shridar L Bhat (60), a Canara bank manager in Honnavar and was on the way to Dandeli from Honnavar on his car during the incident, while another deceased was Jyoti Kiran Marathi (30), a resident of Yellapur, who was on the way towards Mallapur from Yellapur on another vehicle. The injured victims in the incident were Kiran Tikka Marathi (42), Diya (08) and Diwesh (06), husband, daughter, and son of deceased Jyoti Marathi respectively. One more among the injured was the driver Santosh Nagappa (30). The injured were taken to Hubli KIMS hospital after giving initial treatments at Yellapur govt hospital.

Acting on the tip-off, Ankola police personnel rushed to the spot and conducted necessary investigations. A case has been registered and further investigations are on.
