2 killed, 3 hurt as Omni gets crashed with lorry in Yellapur

Yellapur: At least two persons were killed and three others were injured seriously after the car in which they were traveling had a deadly collision with a speeding lorry. The accident happened in the evening of Wednesday, July 25, here at Kiravatti NH63 in the taluk.

The deceased are Devi Jayu Marati (50) and Sumana Manjunath Marati (19), while the injured victims are Manjunath Marati (26), Govind Marati (50), and Omni driver Nagaraj Badagi (30). All are reported as the residents of Devanahalli village of Sirsi taluk.

Sources from Yellapur informed that the accident happened when the occupants of the car were returning to their hometown after attending an appointment at a hospital in Kiravatti. The car was on the Sirsi route from Yellapur, while lorry was in the opposite direction. Both had an ghastly collision, causing a major tragedy to take place.

As the information spread, Yellapur Police personnel rushed to the spot and conducted the necessary investigations.

A case has been registered and further investigations are carried on.
