Dharwad:  Election officers on Wednesday seized 4,050 sarees stored at a cement block factory in Hubballi-Dharwad West Assembly constituency limits.

The unit, owned by Aslam Gokak, is located close to a dairy belonging to Congress candidate Vinay Kulkarni from Dharwad constituency.

Aslam escaped from the scene as soon as the officials found 27 bags of sarees, all valued at Rs 4 lakh. The sarees do not bear any party symbols or pictures of any candidates. A notice will be served to the unit owner, said Pradeep Savadatti of the vigilence team.

Reserve police are stationed around the unit. Police and the officials of the department of Commercial Tax conducted spot mahajar. A case has been booked at the Vidyagiri police station.
