Karwar: Of the total 62 nomination papers submitted from six constituencies of Uttar Kannada district, 12 candidates withdrew their nominations on Friday. Now, there will be a total of 48 candidates in the fray who will be contesting the State Assembly election slated to be held on May 12.
There are more number of candidates from Kumta and Honnavar constituencies including two Bhartiya Janata Party rebel candidates. Suraj Naik Soni and Yashodhar Naik are contesting as rebels after the BJP rejecting their candidature.
In Karwar-Ankola constituency there are six candidates in the fray, while in Yallapur-Mundgod constituency there are seven candidates in the fray.
In Haliyal-Joida constituency, there are nine candidates in the fray, while in Sirsi-Siddapur, there are six candidates.
In Kumta-Honnavar constituency there are a total of 12 candidates in the fray, while in Bhatkal-Honnavar constituency, there are six candidates in the fray.
