Mangaluru: A whopping 52.16 tonnes of sand has arrived at New Mangaluru Port on Friday from Malaysia.

Aakar Enterprises, leading sand dealers in Chennai, have imported the sand and Aspinwall and Company is the local agent in Mangaluru.

Speaking to media, Aspinwall and Company general manager Shekhar Pujari said that the sand is meant for supply in Karnataka.

The officials at Mines and Geology Department said that they have not issued the permit to any person or company to sell foreign sand in the state.
