Bhatkal: Father and daughter, who were riding on a bike were injured severely after they were rammed by a speeding Ambulance, in an accident that happened on Sagar road in the town on Sunday. The injured duo were shifted to Manipal after getting initial treatments at Bhatkal government hospital.

A three-year old toddler too was traveling on a bike, who escaped with minor injuries in the accident. The injured father and the daughter are Krishna Lachmaya Naik (55) and Suchitra Krishna Naik (14) respectively. They are the residents of Konar.

It is reported that Krishna on his bike was heading towards bus stand to drop his daughter, who was leaving for Karwar at the time of accident. The speedy Ambulance which arrived from the opposite direction had an head-on collision. Ambulance was on its way to Dharwad from Udupi. 

Fearing the incident, the Ambulance driver had fled the scene, after which he was arrested by the local police.

A case has been registered in Bhatkal rural police station.
