Karwar: Former minister and JD(S) candidate Anand Astonikar, who lost the assembly election against BJP candidate Roopali Naik, said he will approach election officers for recounting of votes of Karwar-Ankola constituency.

Speaking to reporters here in Ankola on Wednesday, he said there was a lot of support for the party in constituency even though he lost the election. Therefore his supporters have been demanding for recounting so he will approach election officers.

Further he said there is good base for the party in Karwar and Ankola taluks, therefore he will continue to strengthen the party in the district. He also said he will contest Lok Sabha elections next year.
