Ankola: One person was killed on the spot and two others sustained grievous injuries in a gruesome road accident that happened when a speeding car crashed into a roadside tree on 17th April, Tuesday here at Mogata region of Ankola taluk in Uttar-Kannada district.

The deceased driver has been identified as Maheshwar Shankar Acharya (40), while injured are Geeta Acharya (38) and Mangalamma Acharya (63). Geeta is the wife of Maheshwar, whereas Mangalamma is his mother. The other passengers in the car who were reported safe are Vedamurthi, Tejas, and Sharan.

The injured were shifted to Shivamogga hospital.

Sources informed that the accident happened when the victim family after finishing their tour from Kadur to Yana were on the way towards Gokarna. 

A case has been registered in Ankola police station.
