Bhatkal: The Association for Protection of Civil Rights (APCR) Karnataka chapter team visited Bhatkal on Tuesday and organized a district level legal awareness program with various leaders of Uttar-Kannada district at Rabita Hall in Nawayath colony, Bhatkal and also studied the recent violence that took place in the region.
Addressing the gathering, president of APCR Karnataka chapter, said "During any kind of riots or violence that hits the region, we should not take laws into our hands. Instead, we need to handle the situation as per the laws".
"The various regions of Uttar-Kannada district were badly hit due to communal violence and the minority communities were being targeted by the right-wing activists by pelting stones at their properties. Efforts are being made by them to destroy the harmony in the region. A legal cooperation from APCR will be provided to the people who were affected by the violence and also the Association will strive to create awareness among the people regarding the law and order situation. Various parts of the state has been immersed in an atmosphere of insecurity after miscreants have spread the waves of hatred ahead of Vidhana Sabha elections. During this situation we should not lose hope and cross the limits, instead should follow up with the help of laws", he said.
The program was attended by the leaders and representatives of various organizations of the district especially from Karwar, Ankola, Sirsi, Kumta, Bhatkal, Murdeshwar, and Manki. On the occasion, leaders talked about sensitive situation of their region and exchanged ideas to overcome those difficulties while staying within the boundaries of the law.
On this occasion, General secretary of APCR Niyaz Ahmed, executive member Muhammed Shafi, APCR Uttar-Kannada president Maulana SM Syed Zubair, district secretary Qamaruddin, state executive member Inayatullah Gawai and others were present.
