'Around 4500 quarters constructed under the Gruha 2020 scheme' -Ramalinga Reddy

Mangaluru: 'Out of the 11,000 residential quarters for police personnel planned under ‘Gruha 2020’ scheme, around 4,500 quarters have been completed in across 30 districts', said home minister Ramalinga Reddy on 12th January, Friday.

Addressing the media persons after laying foundation stone for Rs. 6.28 crores project in Shaktinagar, Reddy said that the next budget will prioritise repair works in old quarters.

He said that his attention was drawn to the decrepit state of the old quarters while review meetings with the police officials and hence he has given necessary instructions to superintendent of police in all districts on identifying such quarters which are on the verse of collapsing.

Reddy also assured that the quarters will be ready within 16 months and the contract to construct these has been given to Karnataka State police Housing and infrastructure development Corporation Limited.

MCC Mayor Kavitha Sanil, Mangaluru Commissioner of Police T R Suresh, DK Superintendent of police Sudheer Kumar Reddy, Mangaluru South MLA J R Lobo among others were also present.
