Kundapur: Raid conducted against illegal sand mining: boats, trucks seized

Kundapur: A raid was conducted by the Brahmavar police at Handady near Brahmavar in the taluk, where they seized boats and trucks used for illegal sand mining on 7th February, Wednesday.

Around 61 labourers were arrested during the raid and although most of the owners had authorized licence for mining, they were cancelled due to technical reasons.

According to sources, based on credible Intel, Assistant Commissioner of Kundapur Bhoobalan formed a team and performed the raid at eight different locations in Handady.

The police have arrested around 61 labourers and confiscated 25 boats and 9 tippers used for extraction of illegal sand.

However, most of the owners were successful in fleeing from the spot and the police are looking for them.

A case has been registered at Brahmavar police station.
