T Karwar: Just one days left for the state assembly elections, all parties and candidates were seen busy in their final leg of campaigning in their constituencies, which were ended today,  Thursday.

According to sources, in Karwar many people are taking to satta bazaar (betting).

It’s not about IPL cricket betting, this time around is political betting as many people are betting on candidates, their victory margin in the hustings. Especially businessmen are said to be more interested in betting and they see this as a quick moneymaking opportunity. In Karwar, it is said the election will be a straight fight between the Congress and the JD(S), while the BJP is also in the fray.

JD(S) candidate Anand Asnotikar, who said this election will decide his political future, if he wins he will continue in the politics or else quit politics completely.

He also is campaigning from last 2-3 months in the Karwar-Ankola constituency.

According to sources, people are betting mainly on Asnotikar and Congress candidate Satish Sail.

Not only Karwar, betting is rampant in other constituencies of the district as well.

Interestingly, businessmen and political leaders are involved in betting. If they win, they will get double money and if they lose their money will not be returned. In Karwar, a few are betting up to `1 lakh.

A senior police official said, they have not get any complaint about betting. If they get a complaint they will act on it.
