Karwar: Additional Deputy Commissioner of Uttara Kannada H Prasanna directed all the government officials to compulsorily attend the cleanliness drive on Majali beach, as attendance is mandatory for cleaning campaign organized as part of Gandhi Jayanthi.
District In-charge Minister R V Deshpande will inaugurate the shramadhana on October 2 at Majali beach. All the officials and staff should take part in cleaning works, which will be conducted from 6:30 am to 9:00 am, and the department heads should submit the attendance of their staff to Municipal Commissioner, he instructed.
To facilitate the public, workers, and members of various organizations, special buses will run on that day from city bus stand and deputy commissioner's office at 6:15 am, he said.
He informed that on October 2, District In-charge Minister will offer a floral tribute to Gandhi statue at Gandhi Park at 10:00 am. At 10:30 am, the distribution of three-wheeled vehicles to physically challenged people will be held.
At 11:00 am, the inauguration of Karwar One Center, initiation to Graha Bhagya Scheme for civic workers at Pancharashivad and at 11:45 am inauguration of Matra Purna Scheme at Majali Anganwadi centre will be taken up.
On October 3, the cleaning campaign will be held at all government schools and colleges and on October 4 and 7, various public places will be cleaned. The special programme to create awareness among public regarding collection of garbage separately will also be held, he added.
