Karwar: The office-bearers of United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) demonstrated here, on Friday, ahead of the two-day strike in support of their various demands including adequate revision in their wages.
“The wage negotiations are lagging behind due to delaying tactics being used by Indian Banks Association. The Centre is showing step-motherly treatment towards bank employees,” they said.
Stringent measures
They urged that stringent measures should be taken to recover loans from rich industrialists and thereby protect the banks.
Raising charges of various services offered to the customers was not correct. “True, the employees involved in irregularities should be punished, but all the employees should not be harassed unnecessarily. The profit of banks are increasing, but due to requirement of making huge provisions towards bad loans of rich industrialists, they are showing net losses. But, the employees are being targetted for this,” they charged.
United Forum of Bank Unions district unit VP Ravi Talekar, Yashvant Naik, Sameer Sheikh, Ashok Ramadagi, and others were present.
