Bantwal: A container truck lost truck and overturned at Hanchikatte near here on 12th February, Monday.
It was found that the truck was being used to illegally transport cattle. The truck consisted of 14 cattle out of which, one bullock had died due to the accident.
According to sources, the vehicle was transporting nine bullocks and five she-buffaloes to Mangaluru illegally from Chikkamangaluru. When the vehicle arrived near the road bend at Hachikatte, the driver lost control and the truck tumbled.
The people on the container including the driver fled from the spot immediately. The police arrived and rescued the animals with the help of the locals.
A case was registered at Mangaluru rural police station and police are investigating the case.
