Kumta: Youths advised to be wary in the use of Internet, social media

Kumta: Citizens are bound to become victims of cyber crimes if they are not conversant with the functioning of Internet and social media, Kumta Civil Judge N B Mohankumari said.

Addressing a legal literacy camp, organised by Legal Services Authority, Bar Association, Dharmasthala Rural Development Project and other departments, at Dr A V Baliga College, in Kumta recently, she said with the use of Internet and social media becoming common lately, there are chances that people to be caught in cyber crimes inviting problems for themselves. 

Even the slightest callousness in the use of Internet and social media invites danger. Therefore, youths must be careful and seek legal help in case they unwittingly get entangled in cyber crimes,” she observed. Assistant Public Prosecutor Manjunath Naik observed that youths must use Internet for purely work purpose and exercise restraint lest they are caught in the web of cyber criminals.

Police officers Chitresh and P Harsha provided information on cyber crimes. Bar Association President R A Hegde, Principal Jayaram Bhat, N G Hegde and others were present.
