Bengaluru: Two college students tragically drowned in the Suvarnamukhi temple pond inside Bannerghatta National Park on Saturday evening while they were on a trip with their friends.

The deceased have been identified as 20-year-old Deepu and Yogeshwar, both first-year BSc students at a private college near Hebbagodi.

According to sources, Deepu and Yogeshwar, along with three other friends, entered the water in the late afternoon. Unaware of the pond’s depth, Yogeshwar started drowning. Seeing his friend in distress, Deepu immediately jumped in to save him. Unfortunately, both struggled to stay afloat and drowned.

Fire and rescue personnel arrived at the scene and recovered their bodies.

A case has been registered at the Bannerghatta police station, and further investigations are underway.
