Bhatkal Anjuman secures Runner-Up spot in KUD intercollegiate cricket tournament in Hubli

Bhatkal: The Bhatkal Anjuman Institute of Management and Computer Application (AIMCA) demonstrated exceptional prowess, securing the runners-up position in the Karnataka University Dharwad (KUD) Second Zone Intercollegiate Cricket Tournament held in Hubli. The tournament featured eight teams, including Anjuman College Bhatkal, Oxford College Hubli, Anjuman Degree College Bhatkal, Guru Sudhindra College Bhatkal, Global College Hubli, JG College Hubli, Nehru College Hubli, and SK Arts College Hubli.

Bhatkal AIMCA showcased a stellar performance, defeating Oxford College Hubli by an impressive 110 runs in the first quarter-final match. Anjuman, batting first, posted a formidable total of 250 runs in 20 overs, with Marwan Faqi Ahmada scoring an unbeaten 141 runs off just 67 balls, including six sixes and 15 fours. Zeeshan Mukhtasar contributed 50 runs to the team's total. Oxford College was subsequently bowled out for 140 runs. Khurram Gawai, the captain of Bhatkal Anjuman, excelled with the ball, taking three wickets for 23 runs in three overs, securing a convincing victory.

In the semi-final, Bhatkal AIMCA continued their dominant display against Global College Hubli, amassing 234 runs while batting first. Marwan Faqi Ahmada once again shone with the bat, scoring 104 runs off 52 balls, including 18 fours and one six. Anjuman's bowler Faiz Qazi was instrumental in restricting Global College to 124 runs, claiming five wickets in four overs.

The final match, shortened to 15 overs, saw Bhatkal AIMCA facing GJ Commerce College Hubli. Bhatkal scored 144 runs, courtesy of Marwan's rapid 60 runs. However, GJ Commerce College Hubli emerged victorious, chasing down the target with 145 runs for the loss of three wickets.

Marwan Faqi Ahmada was named the best batsman of the tournament for his outstanding batting performance throughout the tournament. He was also awarded the man of the match in both the quarter-finals and semi-finals, highlighting his pivotal role in advancing his team to the finals.

The Bhatkal AIMCA team, led by Khurram Gawai, included Marwan Faqi Ahmada, Mohammed Fahiman, Uaina Siddibapa, Zeeshan Mukhtasar, Faiz Qazi, Salah Hajika, Sameed Ahmed, Mohammad Sufiyan, Ismail Siddiqua, Mohammed Auf, Mazeen Kashimji, Hammad Kola, Swaleh Arzan, and Zaman Jabali. Mohan Mesta, Physical Education Director, served as the team coach, was also part of the team.

Anjuman Hami e Muslimeen Bhatkal's President, Mohammed Yunus Qazia, General Secretary Ishaq Shabandari, Additional General Secretary Aftab Qamri, along with other officials and executive members of Anjuman, including AIMCA Principal Mohammed Mohsin, extended their congratulations to the entire team for their outstanding performance and securing the runners-up position in the tournament.
