Bhatkal: A bike rider was killed when his motorcycle collided with a lorry that had suddenly stopped on the National Highway. The accident occurred near RNS Hospital in Murdeshwar on Saturday at around 2 p.m.

According to police sources, the lorry had stopped due to an engine failure when the bike crashed into it from behind. The seriously injured rider, identified as Narayana Sukrappa Naik (42), was rushed to the nearby RNS Hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries. He was a resident of Shirali in Bhatkal taluk.

It is reported that both vehicles were traveling from Bhatkal towards Honnavar when the incident occurred.

A case has been registered at Murdeshwar police station, and an investigation is underway.
