Bhatkal: The driver of the lorry was reportedly hurt after his vehicle went on colliding head-on with the KSRTC bus on Venktapur bridge NH-66 near Shirali of Bhatkal taluk on 7th November, Tuesday evening.

The incident took place when the KSRTC bus was heading towards Mangaluru from Hubli, while the lorry loaded with Coke was moving towards Dharwad from Mangaluru.

It is said that the major mishap was averted when the lorry driver was successful in diverting his lorry to one side of the road and hit the corner of the bridge. 26 passengers who were travelling in the bus along with bus driver were reportedly safe, while the lorry driver who sustained severe injuries to his hand is getting treated at Bhatkal govt hospital.

Bhatkal rural PSI Naveen Bhorker along with his team rushed to the spot and a case has been registered.
