Bhatkal: Farmer’s body recovered two days after slipping into river

Bhatkal: The body of a farmer who accidentally slipped into a river while washing his hands and feet after completing his gardening work was recovered on Thursday. The deceased has been identified as Ramayya Krishna Gonda, 52.

According to sources, Ramayya Gonda was working at his farm in the Marukeri Panchayat area on Tuesday. After finishing his work in the evening, he went to a nearby river to wash his hands and feet, during which he slipped and drowned. Fire brigade personnel immediately arrived at the scene and began searching for him, but he could not be located at that time. However, his body surfaced in the river today, Thursday.

The body has been sent to the Bhatkal Government Hospital for a post-mortem. A case has been registered at the Bhatkal Rural Police Station based on a complaint filed by the deceased's brother, Masti Gonda.
