Bhatkal: Hundreds of people from different walks of life came together to form a human chain against communalism and divisive politics here.
Participants formed the human chain in Shirali and Bhatkal national highway near taluka panchayat office on 30th January, Tuesday evening under the banner of CPI (M)
Addressing on the occasion, CPI(M) leader Subhash Koppikar, said, in this human chain, people from all the castes, religions and languages have participated for the harmony. "As harmony is the response to communalism, similarly friendship is the best response for hatred", he added.
On the occasion, Prof. R S Nayak, CITU secretary Geeta Naik, Pushpavati Naik, Panchayat employees association president Gajendra Shirali among many others participated.
Human chain for harmony in Kumta:
Writers, activists and various civil society groups participated in the human chains, pledging to safeguard peace and harmony across all communities. They gathered near Mastikatte in the town.
Addressing the gathering, Ex-president of Kannada Sahitya Parishad Rohidas Nayak, said, Uttar-Kannada district is a peace-loving district. The culture of Uttar-Kannada district has set the finest example in the state.
