Bhatkal: The Bhatkal Taluka Working Journalists Association has formally condemned the recent actions of Dandeli Police Inspector Bhimanna Suri towards author and journalist B.N. Vasare. In response, the Association submitted a memorandum to the Assistant Commissioner (AC) of the Bhatkal subdivision, addressed to the Home Minister of Karnataka.

The memorandum expresses strong disapproval of the disrespectful behavior displayed by Inspector Suri. It criticizes the inspector’s treatment of B.N. Vasare, deeming the public humiliation as entirely inappropriate for a government official. The Association underscores that such conduct from someone entrusted with the responsibility of safeguarding journalists is unacceptable.

Additionally, the memorandum urges the government to ensure the safety and security of journalists in the district. The Association demands immediate and effective action against the officials involved and seeks intervention from the Home Minister to address the matter appropriately.

In the absence of Bhatkal AC Dr. Naina, the memorandum was received by Praveen, head of the Bhatkal Tehsildar office.

The memorandum was read out by M.R. Manvi, President of the Journalists Association. Secretary Shailesh Vaidya, Honorary President Radhakrishna Bhatt, Vice President Mohana Naik, along with many other journalists, including Kannada Sahitya Parishad President Gangadhara Naik, were also present.
