Bhatkal: The process of installing the new 5MVA transformer was completed at around 3 am on Friday. After installation, the transformer was tested, and the process of heating the transformer began. Finally, the electricity load was shifted to the new transformer, and the electricity supply was restored at around 10 am on Friday, said Assistant Executive Engineer of the Bhatkal HESCOM office, Manjunath.

It should be noted that due to the breakdown of a 5MVA transformer at the Heble Electricity Grid following an hour of torrential rain on Tuesday evening, power supply was affected in almost half of Bhatkal. During this period, power outages continued, and the power supply was alternated every hour in the affected areas until early Friday morning.

After the breakdown of the Heble Grid's powerful transformer, a new 5MVA transformer reached Bhatkal from Karwar at around 3 pm on Thursday. Despite the heavy rain and storm that began around the same time, HESCOM officials, led by Assistant Engineer Manjunath, started the installation of the new transformer. The installation work, which began at around 3 pm on Thursday, was completed at around 3 am on Friday.
