Bhatkal police conduct awareness drive at Noor Masjid; Urge public to report illegal activities

Bhatkal: In a bid to enhance public awareness about law and order, the Bhatkal Police conducted a community outreach program at Noor Juma Masjid following Maghrib prayers. The session was led by PSI Somanath Rathod, who addressed the congregation and urged citizens to actively report illegal activities in their vicinity.

PSI Rathod encouraged the public to immediately contact the toll-free emergency helpline 112 upon witnessing any criminal activity, including theft, drug trafficking, or other suspicious behavior.

Addressing the growing concern over cyber and mobile-based fraud, Rathod warned that fraudsters often deceive people by requesting OTPs (One-Time Passwords) under various pretexts, leading to unauthorized withdrawals from their bank accounts. He advised residents to exercise caution and avoid sharing sensitive information received via calls or messages without thorough verification.

He also appealed to parents to ensure their children do not stay out past midnight and emphasized the importance of setting strict curfews. Expressing concern over the recent rise in thefts in the area, he recommended that residents inform trusted neighbors when leaving their homes unattended and secure valuables—especially cash and jewelry—in safe lockers. Those planning to travel out of town were advised to notify the local police station.

In his concluding remarks, PSI Rathod urged the community to view the police as partners in ensuring safety and to extend full cooperation in maintaining law and order.
