Bhatkal: In a crackdown on the illegal installation of modified silencers and unauthorized vehicle alterations, Bhatkal Town Police conducted inspections at two-wheeler showrooms, service centres and garages across the town, warning of strict legal action against violators.
The inspection drive was led by Police Sub-Inspector Naveen Naik within the jurisdiction of the Bhatkal Town Police Station. The initiative was aimed at curbing the use of illegal modified silencers that generate excessive noise and violate provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.
During the inspections, showroom owners, garage operators and service centre staff were instructed not to replace original silencers with illegal modified versions or carry out any unauthorized alterations to vehicles. Police said such modifications violate the Motor Vehicles Act and directed all establishments to refrain from undertaking such work.
Officials warned that strict legal action would be taken against showroom owners, garage operators and staff found involved in the installation of illegal modified silencers or any other unauthorized vehicle modifications.
