Bhatkal: Murdeshwar police conducted a raid on an illegal gambling den near Antayya’s house in Bengre, on late Sunday night after authorities received a tip-off about gambling activities at Shetli Pointig Road.

Vinayak Devadiga, a labor contractor, was allegedly overseeing the gambling operation. He was reportedly assisted by Nagappa Devadiga, a hotel worker, and Harish Devadiga, all three hailing from Mavinkatta village in Bhatkal taluk. The trio lured passersby with promises of doubling their money through illegal gambling.

Upon learning of the operation, PSI Hanumanth Biradar led a police team to the location. However, the three accused managed to escape upon seeing the officers. During the raid, the police seized gambling materials, including betting cards, a cash amount of Rs. 4,700, a plastic container, and a battery. 

A case has been registered at Murdeshwar police station against the three individuals who fled the scene.
