Bhatkal: A 33-year-old rowdy-sheeter from Heble Gandhinagar in Bhatkal taluk has been externed from Uttara Kannada district for six months for allegedly threatening public peace and law and order.
Police identified the accused as Jagadish Vasu Moger, against whom six criminal cases are pending, including charges of assault, criminal intimidation, attempt to murder and offences under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. Five cases are registered at Bhatkal Rural Police Station and one at Murdeshwar Police Station.
Acting on a proposal submitted by the Bhatkal Rural Police Inspector, the competent authority ordered his externment under Section 55(A)(B) of the Karnataka Police Act, directing him to remain within the jurisdiction of Ashokapuram Police Station in Mysuru for six months with immediate effect.
Police said Jagadish was escorted to Mysuru and produced before the Ashokapuram Police Station authorities in compliance with the externment order.
