Bhatkal: A passenger travelling in a Netravathi Express train heading towards Mangaluru was robbed with 400 gm gold and Rs 35,000 cash, that was kept in a vanity bag, on Monday late night.
Ramdas Kankonkar, retired employee of Education Department, was on his way to Mangaluru from Karwar with his family for medical treatment. The bag with valuables was stolen durg railway crossing near Manki.
The theft came to light when the train was approaching Murdeshwar. But as the family was in an hurry to reach Mangaluru for treatment, they registered the complaint with Murdeshwar police on Tuesday.
In the complaint, they said they carried the ornaments as they had to leave the house locked.
The case was then transferred to Manki police.
