Bhatkal: Three people, including a child, were injured after their scooter collided with a tipper lorry on National Highway 66 in Byndoor. The child is reported to be in critical condition.
The accident occurred around 7:30 AM on Tuesday, approximately 30 kilometers from Bhatkal, at Arehole Cross, which comes under the Byndoor Police Station jurisdiction.
According to reports, Mohammad Isa Shabandari (35) from Bhatkal Jali Road was traveling with his wife Shaheen and their nine-year-old son Ishaq on a scooter to visit a doctor in Udupi. About 10 kilometers ahead of Byndoor, a tipper lorry suddenly made a turn without signaling, causing the scooter to lose control and collide with the lorry.
The three injured were rushed to Kundapur Hospital. Nine-year-old Ishaq, who suffered severe head injuries, was later transferred to Manipal Hospital, where his condition remains critical. Isa was shifted from Kundapur to Mangalore due to injuries to his arms and legs. Isa’s wife also sustained injuries to her hands and is receiving treatment at Kundapur Hospital.
