Bhatkal: A Bhatkal youth, identified as Danish Ahmed (25), died after being hit by a bus while riding a bike from Haridwar to Dehradun. The accident occurred on Wednesday around 3:45 pm. The body is now being brought to Mangalore by flight from New Delhi, expected to arrive by 11 am on Friday. 

According to information shared by Danish Ahmed's close relatives, his flight from New Delhi to Dehradun was canceled, prompting him to take a bus to Haridwar. From there, he rented a bike to continue to Dehradun. About 45 km from Dehradun, a speeding bus hit his bike near Lacchiwala Toll Plaza, just 20 km from Dehradun. The impact caused Danish to hit the road divider, and his helmet flew off. Local police, upon receiving the information, tried to take him to the nearest hospital, but he likely succumbed to his injuries before reaching there.

Upon hearing about the accident, his close relatives traveled to Dehradun from Mangalore and Dubai. It was found that Danish had stayed in a hotel in Haridwar after his flight was canceled and due to ongoing yatra, travel by bus or four-wheelers was not possible, so he hired a bike to continue his journey. Unfortunately, as he neared Dehradun, his bike was hit by a bus.

Danish Ahmed, grandson of the late Syed Abdullah S M (Pood) and nephew of Syed Abdul Rahman S M (Pood), lived with his mother in Attawar, Mangalore. A hardworking young man, he supplied goods for a well-known online company in Dubai and was traveling to Dehradun for work.
