Bhatkal: Majlise Islah Wa Tanzeem supported independent candidates dominate the victory in Bhatkal Jali Pattana Panchayat elections.

In the previous term, independent candidates backed by Tanzeem had formed the body, and they have continued to rule the roost even this time. Of the 20 wards, elected representatives of 7 wards were elected unopposed. This includes all Tanzeem-backed independent candidates. Elections were held for the remaining 13 seats.

Out of 20 wards, Congress won 4 seats, BJP won 3 seats and 13 Independent candidates, where 12 by Tanzeem back candidates won.

The results were announced on Thursday.

There were 35candidates in fray in13 wards. The counting was held at Guru Sudhindra College in Bhatkal.
