Honnavar: A bike rider was killed while the pillion sustained grievous injuries after the bike in which they were moving in had a head-on collision with a speeding lorry on Haldipur NH-66 of Honnavar taluk here in the early hours of Monday.

It is believed that the incident happened when the duo was returning to their native Gadag after finishing their duty in Udupi. Due to the impact of the collision, the bike rider sustained critical injuries and was killed on the spot, while the pillion rider who received multiple injuries was immediately taken to the hospital. The bike was seen split into its parts due the heavy force of collision.

As the information was alerted, Honnavar police rushed to the spot and conducted the necessary investigations. A case stands registered in Honnavar police station.
